Living RoomPublic Space Description

The Inn has a very unique and unusual architectural feature.  At the turn of the 20th century, after Eliza Ellis passed away, the house was left to two sons.  There was apparently a family feud at the time and each heir wanted to occupy the house with his family.  Rather than divide the space in an equitable way, they had the house sawed in half. On half of the house was moved nine feet, and a second hallway was built in the middle to join the two halves essentially turning the house into a duplex.  Each family had their own entrance and stairway that led to the second floor.  The dividing wall was solid further enhancing the brother's isolation from one another.  In the 1940s, after the Ellis family sold the house, there were four doorways cut into the dividing wall so that occupants had easy access to one another.

Guest Rooms Descriptions

"We have made every effort to accurately describe our guest rooms in the hopes that we never have a guest who is disappointed with their room, and our Inn."

The Harmony House Inn offers 10 spacious guest rooms.  Three rooms have King Sized Beds (one which can be separated to make two twin beds), six have Queen Sized beds and one has two Twin beds.  Four rooms are on the first floor; six rooms are on the second floor. Each bed has lamps on either side so that one guest may read while the other drifts off into golden slumbers. Natural light abounds in the elegant, yet comfortable guest rooms each of which has been personally decorated by your hosts, Ed and Sooki Kirkpatrick.  Each room features one of Sooki's handmade cross-stitch patterns which she has chosen especially for that room.

All bathrooms are located in the room or suite.  Bathrooms have tub/shower combinations; two of our suites have large oversized jacuzzi tubs.  All have mirrors, supplemental heat, exhaust, lighting and night lights.  Facial soap, deodorant soap, and shampoo are provided.  If you forget to bring something, we try to keep some extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors.

First Floor - Three guest rooms and one suite.  These rooms have ten foot ceilings.

The Benjamin Ellis Suite

Room Type: Two Room Suite with Queen Canopy Bed
Maximum guests in room: 4

Originally the innkeeper's quarters, this area of the inn was unused when we purchased the inn.  We immediately made plans to convert this area into a suite.  Using some creative carpentry, we added a new entrance to the room (the door into the room originally went through the kitchen).  This is a two room corner suite which offers a living room with a Queen Sized pull-out sofa bed and a separate bedroom with Queen Sized Canopy Bed. The dimensions of the bedroom are 15 1/2 x 16 1/2; the living room measures 15 1/2 x 13 feet.  This suite is located in the back corner of the house and has three large windows.  The carpeting is a soft peach color.  The walls are painted in a light peach with pink grapefruit colored trim.  The bedroom has a locally crafted armoire for hanging clothes.  In the armoire, we provide two plush robes for our guests' use. The living room has the sofa bed and two other sitting chairs. The bathroom is large and has extra drawer and medicine cabinet space to store toiletries.  The layout of this room makes it a good choice for families with children since there are separate rooms to sleep.  Corporate guests also like this room because they can stay in the bedroom and have the privacy of the living room for small meetings.
